Hello Josie Liz

How To Improve Cellulite and Crepey Skin

This is real talk that might not sit well with the naysayers and misinformed. They cling to the myth that improving cellulite and crepey skin is completely impossible, but don't let the skeptics shake you. Integrate these strategies with dedication and patience, and watch your skin visibly improve:

Strength Training:

  • Builds muscle mass: Strengthening the muscles underneath the skin can help to fill out loose or sagging areas, providing more support and firmness to the skin.
  • Improves circulation: Better blood circulation from strength training can enhance the delivery of nutrients to the skin, promoting collagen production and elasticity.

Collagen (this is a major power move):

From around the age of 25, the body's natural production of collagen starts to decline, decreasing by about 1-2% per year. By the age of 50, collagen production can be significantly reduced, leading to visible signs of aging such as crepey skin. Supplementing with collagen can help replenish these diminishing stores and support overall skin health.

  • Supports skin structure: Helps to restore and maintain the structural integrity of the skin, reducing the appearance of crepey skin by improving firmness and elasticity.
  • Boosts hydration: Collagen helps the skin retain moisture, which is crucial for maintaining its plumpness and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles associated with crepey skin.
  • Supports connective tissue: Collagen strengthens the connective tissue in the skin, providing more support and preventing it from sagging or becoming lax over time.
  • Note: Grass-fed, pastured raised bovine collagan is best. Marine collagen is inferior and vegan collagen is a scam, so don't do that. I recommend this collagen.

Body Brushing:

  • Stimulates lymphatic drainage: Body brushing can help remove excess fluid and toxins from the skin to improve its appearance.
  • Exfoliates skin: Regular exfoliation with body brushing helps to remove dead skin cells, promoting cell turnover and revealing smoother, more youthful-looking skin.
  • Increases blood flow: Improved circulation from body brushing can enhance the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to the skin, supporting its health and elasticity.

This is the body brush I use. It will leave your skin feeling rejuvenated and looking much brighter.

In addition to the methods mentioned, other strategies for improving the appearance of your skin include:

  • Hydration: Drinking plenty of water helps keep the skin hydrated, plump, and less prone to crepey texture.
  • Moisturizing: Using moisturizers and emollients regularly can help to hydrate the skin and improve its texture. Stay away from drugstore brands that contain parabens, phthalates sulfates and petrolatum. I combine castor oil with vitamin e creme to concoct my own homemade, body moisturizer.
  • Avoid Seed Oils: The consumption of seed oils is becoming more widely understood for its negative affect on your skin. The oxidation process generates free radicals, leading to oxidative stress in the skin, which can exacerbate inflammation, impair the skin's natural defense mechanisms against UV damage, and ultimately contribute to premature aging, including wrinkles, fine lines, and uneven pigmentation. Research "seed oils to avoid'. You'll go down an eye-opening rabbit hole.
  • Retinoids: Topical retinoids can stimulate collagen production and promote skin cell turnover, improving the appearance of crepey skin over time. Yet this can be harsh on skin so follow instructions for use and discontinue if needed. I no longer do retinoids. I use Bakuchiol instead.
  • Bakuchiol: This is a natural compound derived from the Babchi plant, is a promising alternative to retinol due to its ability to provide similar anti-aging benefits, such as stimulating collagen production and reducing wrinkles, while being gentler on the skin and suitable for those with sensitive skin or who are pregnant. This is the bakuchiol I buy.
  • Professional treatments: Procedures like laser therapy, microdermabrasion, chemical peels, or radiofrequency treatments can help to tighten and rejuvenate the skin, reducing the appearance of crepey texture.
